Final Fabrication

After welding the steering tray support tray to the slider, we had all the parts needed to put together the racing simulator.

The parts were cleaned and prepped for painting. The main slider bar will be polished and clear-coated while the other parts will be polished and painted.

Painting the parts

The parts with the exception of the main slider bar were primed and painted.

Installing the Bass Shaker

The Aura Bass Shaker is a bass driver that is meant to vibrate whatever it is mounted to. It gives the illusion of the low bass rumble you feel rather than hear. The shaker is active at frequencies less than or equal to 140 Hz given the low frequency cut-off set in the subwoofer amplifier's crossover. The bass shaker will allow you to feel any bumps in the road, explosions, etc.. The bass shaker works in conjunction with the home theater subwoofer to provide a sonic experience without having to turn the volume so loud as to shake the entire room with the home theater subwoofer.

The subwoofer amplifier that was used was removed from an old powered sub. The amp was stated to be around 150 watts, but the Aura bass shaker is only rated at 50 watts. Putting two Aura's in series will give 8 Ohms and power handling of 100 watts. Two of the shakers is overkill for this project and turning the subwoofer amp to over 50 watts will provide way too much stimulation than would be necessary for the single seat.

The middle seat post was cut to mount the bass shaker. The goal was to allow the racing seat to be removed and replaced if necessary without having to remove the bass shaker.

The Aura Pro bass shaker was mounted on top of the seat mounts. This will allow optimal contact between the seat and the bass shaker when the seat is bolted to the frame.
